Deze site geeft je een beeld van mijn vrije werk: schilderijen, tekeningen, filmpjes, blogs en foto's. Het is een mix van denken en doen. Van vasthouden en loslaten. Van ambitie en plezier. En resulteert in, al zeg ik het zelf, werk dat gezien mag worden. 

"Net wel. Net niet" de spanning die dat oplevert is een van mijn uitgangspunten. Daar speel ik mee. In denken. In taal. In tekenen. In schilderen.

Vlak voor de coronacrisis begon in 2020 kreeg ik een grot stapel karton. Mooi basismateriaal. Dit gaf mij de vrijheid om al tekenend veel te proberen. De combinatie van pastelkrijt, olieverf, spuitverf en sjablonen daagt me nu nog eke dag uit. En de meeste werken nodigen mij vervolgens uit om een titel te bedenken.

Al tekenend ontstaan vaak series. In een bepaald formaat en met variabele patronen kijken wat er mogelijk is. Zoeken. Proberen. Vinden. Loslaten. Zoeken. Proberen. Vinden. Loslaten. Dat is in feite de cirkel van mijn manier van werken.

Ik verkondig met mijn werk geen zware boodschap over wereld of leven. Mijn ambitie ligt in het werk zelf. Daarin moet iets gebeuren. Dat moet overtuigen. Daar moet iets in zitten waardoor de kijker denkt: is het dat nou wel of is het dat nou niet?

Net wel. Net niet.

ACHTER DE SCHERMEN (17,5X25 / PAINT/PASTEL ON CARDBOARD / 2021)

Being Dutch and living in The Netherlands means that your painter’s DNA is filled with Rembrandt, van Gogh, Mondriaan, De Kooning, Vermeer and Hieronymus Bosch.

Their legacy is inspiring and offers all the ingrediënts to paint and draw.. Even in the days that this might be considered as ‘old fashioned’ it obliges the painter’s mind & heart to show the world the meaning and beauty of painting.

Working with paint, oil, brushes, canvasses, tapes and all the other means to express the reason of being. How to find your personal way in a world that’s overloaded with incoherent influences? How to give meaning to life?

Dutch painter Wytze Visser is aware of the Painters Legacy and is searching for his position, knowing the definite answer will never be found:

"Just right. Just not. the tension that this produces is one of my starting points. I play with that. In thinking. In language. Into signs. Into painting.

Just before the corona crisis started in 2020, I received a big pile of cardboard. Nice basic material. This gave me the freedom to try a lot while drawing. The combination of pastels, oil paint, spray paint and stencils still challenges me every day. And most of the works then invite me to come up with a title.

While drawing often series arise. See what is possible in a specific format and with variable patterns. Search. To attempt. Find. Letting go. Search. To attempt. Find. Letting go. That is in fact the circle of my way of working.

With my work I do not proclaim a heavy message about the world or life. My ambition lies in the work itself. Something has to be done in that. That should convince. There must be something in it that makes the viewer think: is it or isn't it?”

Just like that. Just not.
